About Jae

Jae is a mindful awareness author and teacher.  She has spent that last twenty years writing about, studying and observing how people talk (and don’t talk) about the things that matter most in life.  She has given lectures in over 50 countries and is the author of seven books and hundreds of articles aimed to help people have more, conscious, compassionate conversations with others and themselves.   Some of these conversations are about balance and values, some are about boundaries and expectations and all of them are about awareness.   She believes awareness is a skill and she is committed to teaching this skill to all people everywhere.

In 2008, Jae founded Simple Intentions, a conscious content company committed to human development in the workplace with the purpose to develop the skill of awareness as a business skill. Through Simple Intentions her work as a mindfulness teacher has reached over 20,000 employees in more than 50 countries at multinational corporations such as Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook, Pearson Education, and other leading companies.  Jae is a frequent contributor to Mindful MagazineThrive Global and The Huffington Post on the topics of balance, awareness and communication. Her 7-part webseries on awareness as a business can be viewed on New Thought Channel and her guided meditations can be found on InsightTimer.   She is the founder of Seattle Wisdom, a community organization in Seattle committed to serving as hub for conscious conversations and mindfulness practices in professional spaces and Conscious Media LA, a community organization in Los Angeles serving to create more conscious conversations in media industry in front of and behind the camera.

Jae’s motivation to found Simple Intentions came from a decade of corporate communication rolls, the last of which resulting in a not so graceful collapse, at work in front of her peers, from stress-related adrenal fatigue.  Her passion for communication and this life-altering experience propelled her to research human behavior, neuroscience, and mindfulness to create tools so that others may learn they a choice for how to live and work with greater awareness.

Jae has a master’s degree in Communication Management from Colorado State University and a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Communication from Metropolitan State College of Denver. She is a 2018 member the Mindfulness Facilitation program at The Mindful Awareness Research Center within the Jane and Terry Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior at UCLA. Jae is an Associate member of the International Mindfulness Teacher Association and though she does not consider herself a coach, she holds certificates in co-active coaching and organizational relationship systems coaching, empowering her ability to motivate people into action.
Her past studies include a 6-month Mindfulness Mastery class via the Lotus Institute, (in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh), as well as in-depth work with Marianne Williamson, ( A Course in Miracles), Deepak Chopra, (Silent Awakenings and Seduction of Spirit) Jack Kornfield (The Psychology of Loving Awareness) and Mantra and meditation course work through the American Institute of Vedic Studies. Additionally, Jae is a long-time student of Shambhala and the work of Pema Chodron.
